Seafront Theme Group activities
The Group conducted a Questionnaire exercise to find out the public’s views and to establish what improvements should be made. One of the most popular improvement was for easier access to the the water’s edge across the, often steep, shingle beach.
The Partnership has been a member of the Seaford Town Council led Beach User Group which meets periodically with the Environment Agency and has a significant input to the development of the Agency’s long term strategy for Seaford’s sea defences. In addition , the Partnership was a representative on the Coastal Communities 2150 Group which, as part of a large EU funded project, considered the possible long term impact of sea level rises and how the public could be involved in coping with the increased risk of flooding the Group produced an Action plan.
The partnership has organised a series of public meetings on the options to improve Seaford’s flood defences.
In addition the group is active in three areas of major improvements to the seafront environment, the Beach Garden, Improvements to the Splash Point Groyne and establishing a Open Air Public Performance Area at the Martello Tower.
